Dr. Jonathan Katibian
My therapy approach draws heavily from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My goal is to help clients develop a deeper understanding of the interplay between thoughts, emotions, and actions. I firmly believe that there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach and tailor treatment to each person’s unique needs and preferences.
I offer evidence-based intervention for OCD and anxiety disorders across the lifespan. I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment of OCD. My approach integrates aspects of other modalities to help clients live a life based on personal values and not one that is driven by obsessions and compulsions. When working with children, I work with the whole family to help parents achieve a balance which empowers kids to work through difficult thoughts and emotions, while maintaining a positive parent-child relationship.
I also specialize in psycho-educational evaluations. My testing approach utilizes a neuropsychological framework, which aims to develop a full picture of a student’s cognitive and social-emotional profile. I have found that helping kids to understand their own brain is often a powerful tool to instill confidence and dispel the self-critical thoughts which can surface when school is not proceeding as smoothly as expected. At the same time, I strive to empower parents with the knowledge and resources necessary to advocate for their kids.
